Soft Launch

It’s time! I’ve been sitting on this domain name for a while now, considering the content, the function, the crew of awesome food enthusiasts, and more. As we are about to ring in the new year, I look to 2017 as the year we finally see this site go live.

I am so excited. We’ve got some good personalities and some good ideas.

I’ll be posting lots of recipes. Hopefully we’ll get some good pictures and video, as that’s what I find lacking in so many food blogs: Everything is staged so perfectly and you don’t see what how it really turns out, or essential techniques are simply not shown. We want to show what cooking really looks like.

We will all be posting restaurant reviews for the Omaha metro area. You may see multiple reviews for the same place, because we all have slightly different tastes and takes on the experience. We’ve got a couple of goofballs in the group, and hopefully reading our reviews will be informative and enjoyable.

As we go, we’ll work on the look and feel of the site, too. I am a big believer in “Content is King” and so that will be reflected in the simple styles and functions of the site. To keep in line with this philosophy, I am only allowed to work on new features or design overhauls after one of us posts new content.

By the end of 2017, we should be ready to do an “Official” launch, with a full feature set and a year’s worth of great content. At that time we’ll begin a social media and advertising campaign, with the intention of monetizing the venture in some way. I’m aware of how annoying popup ads, newsletter signups, and other in-your-face monetizing schemes can be. I’ve got the whole year to figure out how strike the right balance, so that we can get a little scratch to fund bigger and better eatery adventures.

Wishing everyone a happy and prosperous new year!
